I’m sitting here watching my sweet Jacob try to sleep. He has liver cancer and we will let him go today. It is so hard to know when it is ‘time,’ but I think it is now. We will all miss him so much. He liked to stick his paw in our milk and lick it off. When we moved three years ago he found a special spot high up in a closet we call ‘Jacob’s club house.’ Who will be peering down at us when we go in there now? Jacob loved to get into boxes, which was not always an easy feet when he weighed in at 18 pounds, but he managed even some pretty small boxes. He is the biggest of our cats, yet he had the smallest, sweetest voice. His hair is long and he isn’t the best at grooming himself and many times we’d have a Start Trek adventure, removing “clingons” from his backend. We once pulled a length of plastic bag (like a magician’s trick) from his rear, I’m afraid that his cancer may be a result of his love of plastic. We tried to keep bags away from him, but he was like an addict and would sneak around seeking them out. Jake is only seven, way too young to leave us, I was looking forward to growing old with him. He was a bit aggressive towards our old girl Tipper, but seemed to tolerate the dogs and the new kittens. When our confused 10 pound female poodle tried to engage in inappropriate sexual play, Jake would try to walk under anything that would sort of ‘scrap’ her off. His favorite was to sit in my husband’s lap and have his belly rubbed. Sometimes he’s lay on his back on the kitchen floor, his big pink belly to the world hoping one of us would stop and give him a rub. We always did. We love you Jacob. Give Scarlett, Maggie, Mudgie and Mason our love when you see them. We miss them still.

One of my friends that may have breast cancer, and a friend whose mother was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. May they be taken care of with lots of love and peace. Please pray for my loving dog Frizzle. He has developed separation anxiety which has been very difficult to deal with - he has tried my patients and destroyed many things. But now I am so sad that he found a dead fox in the park that transmitted mange to him which has been a terrible ordeal and now I am worried he may have contracted rabies too. A couple days ago the house across the street from me in Corte Madera, CA was on fire. There were two cats trapped inside. One kitty, a Siamese named Romeo is doing better after getting oxygen. His sister, Juliette has been on a compression machine but her lungs still need much healing. Both cats were trapped in heavy smoke for about 30 minutes and it's a miracle they are alive, especially her. Please send Reiki and prayers to both of them and Juliette's her lungs to be healed. I had an Oliver, our 4-year old weimararner, crisis Friday morning, he has not been himself since before Thanksgiving, well, wouldn't you know that after four visits to different vets, and Oliver not eating at all these last two days, I took him for an ultrasound at one of my most state of the art vets, and would you believe that he had an obstruction. He was in surgery for almost two hours. He apparently swallowed half of a shish kabob stick some time ago; the vet removed six inches of his intestines as
it had perforated multiple areas. She said she'd never seen anything like it in all her surgical career. Only my Oliver. Thankfully, he made it through the surgery, but is not out of the woods by any means. The vet said three more days and he would have died. The next 48 hours are critical as he is riddled with infectious peritonitis, so they are flooding him with IV antibiotics.
He came home yesterday and is very lethargic, bloated, not eating, peeing infrequently, and now bouncing back.
We are going to the vets in the morning and hopefully they can drain the fluid and get him back on the healing track. he is a wonderful loving animal and I fear I will never be the same if he dies at this tender age.

Please hold my 18 year-old tiger tabby, Knobie, in your prayers during this critical time August 6, 2005 in Catonsville, MD. He has been with us since he was a kitten. He is at the emergency room right now undergoing a blood transfusion to elevate his blood pressure and remedy his severe anemia. I send much love to the cat who is donating blood for Knobie...thank you. Knobie's blood tests revealed liver and pancreatic damage and further tests are being performed to see where the anemia is coming from. Please send him comfort and reassurance through this stressful time being away from home and in a strange environment. Please send wisdom, gentleness and resolve to all who are at the clinic tending him. Although his earthly body may be failing, I hope his spirit knows no fear but only peace and love. Please pray for Simba, Dopey, and Tommy, the three surviving foster kittens out of a litter of eight. A virus is killing these tiny things quickly, and I am trying so hard to save these three little remaining ones.
My Beauty has been with us since 1993. I adopted her at the Humane Society of Broward County where I worked. She is THE best dog. She is somewhere between the ages of 13 and 15 and until this week was the picture of health.
This week was a watershed for Beauty. She started having seizures, the arthritis in her legs got worse overnight, I found two lumps on her, and she was diagnosed with liver disease.
I believe she knows that she is not well and has been sticking to me like glue and I her.
Please say a prayer for her as she heads into this most difficult time of her life. I believe that this is the beginning of "the long goodbye."

She was deceased at the site of the accident, Smooth was traumatized and has run off, but is staying in the area of the accident. Please add my baby boy, Simon, to your prayer circle. Simon is an eleven year old silver and white tabby, my baby and my friend. He was diagnosed yesterday with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), an incurable virus. Simon has been the hospital for a week, on a feeding tube. The vet gives him a slim chance to pull through and put the virus in remission. Simon is a fighter and with everyone's prayers, he will be home soon. I see him everyday and tell him how much he is loved.
I also ask that a prayer be extended to Simon's little three-year-old brother Dudley. FIP is contagious and we hope that Dudley, although exposed, will not see the wrath of this virus. With early intervention and vaccination, Dudley should be fine.

Dear Maia, Some months ago, I wrote to ask for your prayers for my Siamese cat who was grieving over the loss of his sweet sister, Sara. Singha, also known as my Baby Buddha Boy, had numerous illnesses himself. However, with daily Reiki sessions from Tera, love and support from Jan Spiers, Sara herself, many friends, and your prayers, he rallied and had 6 more of the most beautiful months. We spent a great deal of time drinking up the peace, love and gratitude for the 18 years the 3 of us had together. Singha chose to remain in his body in order to give peace to the world, and he also elected to make the transition in his own time. I can't tell you how wonderful Tera has been and what a blessing she has been in my life with my gorgeous yellow Labrador, Mel Gibson (named by my niece). Mel has faced many trails -- diabetes, mast cell tumors, lyme disease that almost killed him -- all along the way Tera helped me understand Mel's concerns and wishes and taught me to listen to Mellie. He is in need of intensive prayers now. He has been limping for some time now...it gets better and then worse. He's been having some pain while sleeping and following his walks. We just did an x ray and it is a bone tumor apparently. I still can't believe it. He is playful, happy, hungry and loving as ever. He sleeps a little more, but he is an 11 year old boy who still demands play time and attention. I am heartbroken but praying for the wisdom to say the right things, pray the right prayers, give him the sacred space and time he needs to heal either here or in transition, and trust in the process. But I need help. I've spent my life savings on my beauteous Mel and I have spent no more worthy currency on this earth because he is my teacher, and my best friend. I would love prayers to be sent to a very very special kitty; my husband and I found him recently in the middle of nowhere in the woods, and he seemed abandoned, and when we asked if he wanted to be with us he jumped into our car and settled into my lap. I can't believe how quickly we fell in love with him! He went outside recently and wandered off, and we don't know how to find him. Please pray for Boomer. He was rescued at less than two months old, nearly starving. He was dumped at a gas station. I have had him since. He is suffering from anxiety and aggressive behaviors rooted in this anxiety have come up. It is definitely fear based. My relative/room mate is schizophrenic and being with her for two years hurt my animals, especially Boomer, while he was a puppy. Dear Maia, Please help us send a prayer of thanks to Sebastian for sharing his life with us and to all those who prayed for his safe return. He will not be coming home; his work here is done. Please help him continue on his journey. We have been loved and supported every step of the way through the ordeal of his disappearance and continue to feel this love and support as we now turn to letting our friend go. Dear Maia, Thank you for your prayers for Snoopy and Athena. They are doing so much better. Athena was seen by her veterinarian and she is able to eat better now. Snoopy has been able to play more with Athena and they both are more vivacious! Joni
Maia, please let all of my loved ones at home know how truly loved they are. Time goes by so fast and now many of the dogs and cats are in their teens. I seem to have blinked and my little tuxedo kitten is nineteen years old! Where does time go?My life has been so much richer having had the opportunity to share it with them. And thank you to those who have blessed me and left me and who are waiting for our next embrace. We all beat from the same heart. Just sign me, Momma Bear.
Please pray for Snoopy, our 8 year old Beagle. He is having a difficult time with seeing and is less active. Pray for Athena our 1 year old Australian Shepherd/ Border Collie/ Black Lab mix as she has a bout with something that has made her not want to eat. Thank you, Joni
Please pray for Red, a Sheltie mix, and his brother Spencer. Red had to have orthopedic surgery for a crooked leg and is having a hard time adjusting to his cast and the sores the rubbing is causing and the e collar he has to wear. And Spencer is going through separation anxiety from
not being able to sleep with his brother and doesn't understand why Red can't run and play anymore. Neither understand that this only temporary. Pat

Please pray for my tiny green iguana, Stevie, who has had such a tough little life. For the majority of the 10 months he has been alive, he has suffered from the effects of malnutrition and calcium
deficiency. He is a poor eater, and his growth is severely stunted. Many months of medical treatments from supplements, to syringe feeding have yielded minimal improvements. Three days ago, Stevie received Reiki healing from a local Reiki Master, and for the first time, things are looking up for him. I pray that he continues to eat and grow, and becomes a big, happy, healthy iguana, and lives a long and joyful life. Amy, Saugus, MA
Please pray for healing harmony in my home. The animals who share my home have been homeless, hurt or abandoned. They all now seem to be full of life, happy and living together in harmony. Another shy soul, a large german shepherd gentleman will soon come here to live and grow and be secure under loving care and guidance. Please pray that we find the person that will provide a loving home for Stella. Stella is a beautiful white and black kitten who wants to be an only cat with a person who will love her and dote on her. She will be a loving companion as well. Her person is either female or a male who is in touch with his female side.
