Dreaming a New World

by Tera Thomas

In January of this year Jan Spiers, Dave Gulick, and I began a weekly meditation, each in our own homes, connecting to each other and to all the animals we could think of to call in. Our intention was to focus our energy on bringing in a vision of all beings on Earth living and working together with mutual respect and harmony, a world where all life is sacred.

During our first meditation, I asked to be shown a path to bring this peaceful vision to earth. Suddenly I was in nature, there was lush green grass, blue sky, and a winding path leading up a hill and out of sight. “Here is the path,” I heard. “Take a step.” This was not the kind of path I had been envisioning, it was so literal! But I took a step and suddenly there were animals and beings of light surrounding me and speaking all at once: “I want to speak!” “We must be heard!” “We must be included!” “Listen to us!”

“Can you tell me what lies ahead?” I asked. “How can we go from here to a world of partnership?”

“Take one step at a time. You could not hold the full vision even if we had it, and we do not. We all, human, animals, and spirit are walking this path without the full picture of what it will look like. We have only our prayers and intentions and we can only put one foot in front of the other. Trust that you will be shown the way. This web of light you are weaving is oh so powerful, much more powerful than you realize. You notice that you have many, many animals and spirits already joined with you three brave humans. There will be even more. When the time is right, call more humans to this meditation. Create happenings where you link humans and animals energetically and open your hearts. Miracles will happen and none will leave these events unchanged.”

In each of our weekly meditations Dave, Jan, and I were joined by many, many animals and light spirits—some were specifically invited, others just joined in. The meditations were each unique. Sometimes I would have powerful visions or some specific instructions. Other times Dave or Jan would be given visions or instructions and I would have no thoughts or visions at all. But each and every time, a deep peace and love would descend over me and tears would stream down my face unchecked. One thing I knew—this was powerful stuff and something was happening!

In March, we decided it was time to invite some more humans to join us and chose a specific day and time—the first Sunday of every month at 8-8:30 EST and 5-5:30 PST—we put the word out to all those on Hummingbird Farm’s mailing list and Penelope Smith printed the information in her journal Species Link. We don’t know how many of you are participating but we can feel it growing.

On Sunday, June 6th I was sitting on my porch about half an hour before meditation time. There were three deer in a circle about thirty feet from me eating the corn I had put down for them. Three squirrels, two cardinals and a few mourning doves were also in this circle eating corn. Hummingbirds were buzzing around my head; there were chickadees, titmice, Carolina wrens, sparrows, and a downy woodpecker. My cats, Maia and Daisy, were lying on their backs in the flower bed and Inka and Rainbow, the llamas, had begun their evening ritual of dancing and running in the pasture. The trees were full and green, flowers were blooming, and the scent of gardenias wafted on the air.

When I was a young girl Snow White was my favorite movie because she lived in a beautiful world with animals around her and I had vowed that some day I would have that too. And now, here I was, living in paradise, surrounded by all of these wonderful animals. How did I get here? I did not make a million dollars and buy the property and the animals to live on it. I dreamed it into being. And now here it was, living proof that what we dream can become reality.

As it rolled around to 8 p.m. I opened myself to link with the other participants. I kept my eyes open during this meditation and watched as the world took on a luminous glow and I could see the lines of energy connecting me to everything in existence. I could feel the animals, the trees, the grass, the stones, the plants, the house, the nature spirits, and all of those who were energetically connecting up and weren’t physically present. It was so full and rich and I knew there was hope. We can save this planet. We can create a world of beauty and harmony. It is within our grasp and all we have to do is focus on it, feel it, envision it, dream it, and it is ours!

In a world where we are rewarded for doing, a meditation could seem like a waste of time. But, we are energetic beings, connected to each other and the world we live in through energetic cords. A cat once explained to me, “You are about 1% physical and 99% nonphysical. If you put a pea next to your body, the pea would represent your physical self and your physical body would represent your spiritual self.” This feels so right to me. And yet, here in this physical world we tend to forget it and put all our trust in what we can do physically. I am learning more and more that the work we do energetically is powerful. When we focus on our dreams we are voting for the reality we want to live in and it carries a lot of weight. It is how we can create a beautiful world.

Please join us for our monthly meditations and add your energy and your dreams to our stew pot. The First Sunday of every month at 8-8:30 p.m. EST/ 5-5:30 p.m. PST.
